  • 6,906 work permit applications processed under GSS with an approval rate of 96% from June 12, 2017 – February 28, 2018
  • Over 85 referred companies and universities as of March 25, 2018
  • Main sectors served: Technology, Multimedia, Financial Services
  • 34 Referral Partners across Canada:
    • Provincial Governments
    • Economic Development Organizations
    • Incubators and Accelerators
    • Other Federal Departments

Program Delivery Instructions Updates:

Updated February 2018 to provide clarifications on:

  • short-term (15 or 30 days) work permit exemption
  • short-term (120-day) work permit exemption for researchers
  • priority processing (14 days) for work permits under the GSS

Canadian-European Union (EU) Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)

  • Came into force on September 21, 2017
  • Implementation falls under IRCCs’ International Mobility Program and Foreign Workers Unit
  • Four main categories with the agreement:
    1. Business Visitors
    2. Intra-Corporate Transferees
    3. Contractual Service Providers and Independent Professionals
    4. Investors
